Darrin P - Caricature Artist - South Carolina

Darrin started drawing about the same time he learned to hold a crayon. All throughout his school age years he was told that he had talent and although he did not initially choose to pursue it, he has never stopped drawing, sketching, or doodling which proved to be an asset to him in his role as a Music teacher in elementary general music classes.

As a teacher he found that his artistic ability served him well when attempting to explain a concept to his students. To further that end and to keep himself sharp he applied to the Art Instruction School in Minneapolis, MN a distance learning institution and in March of 2007 completed the Fundamentals of Art certificate program during which time he was a Recipient of the Merit Award for the Charles M. Schulz Annual Cartoon Art Competition.

Then one day it happened. While at Carowinds theme park in the Carolinas, Darrin met a caricaturist for Kaman's Art Shoppes and pretty soon became one himself. Whether at the park, an event, or creating a custom caricature for a client or donation, Darrin draws with the passage Neh 8:10 "... Do not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the LORD must be your strength!" in mind and strives not only for a good, solid, likeness, but incorporating the subject's personality and some light-hearted humor as well.
