For James, creating caricature, in a live or illustrative format, is like no other art form. Each and every face brings a unique challenge, because no two faces are the same. It gives him great satisfaction to capture a person's essence on paper, an exaggeration of that person, yet still holding their likeness. |

Caricature and comic art have been a major part of James' life since he was very young. Growing up, he read all the MAD magazines and Marvel comics he could get his hands on. The works of MAD artists Mort Drucker, Harry North, Esq, Sam Viviano and Jack Davis, made a very strong impression on him. This was where he developed a true passion for the art form. Other artists he looks to for inspiration include C.F. Payne, Sebastian Kruger, Sam Cisco, Steve Brodner and John Kascht. |

Since 1989, James has been doing commissioned caricature and publication illustrations for various corporations and publications, working in both traditional (inks and watercolors) and digital mediums (Photoshop, Illustrator, FreeHand). Other mediums he utilizes for his illustration include pen and ink, graphite and airbrush and watercolor. |

b&w body/gag: 8/hour
color heads only: 10/hour
color body/gag: 7/hour
Rate: $140/hour for black and white, or $180/hour for color. James has a two hour minimum.
