color family caricature by bob langston Bob Langston started drawing caricatures in the summer of 1985 at Kings Dominion Theme Park. During his college years he was a commercial art student at VCU, and had become friends with other young artists in his classes that were already drawing caricatures at Kings Dominion and they introduced him to the theme park scene. From that point on, He had his own caricature business at the 6th Street Marketplace in Richmond the following summer, and the next summer he had his own caricature business right on 14th and Atlantic Avenue at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach. color illustration by bob langston of a jester Over the following years, He continued to draw caricatures for seasonal events, and worked at Military Circle Mall for the 87-88 and 88-89 Christmas seasons. He continued to draw caricatures from time to time as part of his freelance art, mainly for after prom parties and small birthday parties and the like. In 2003, when Bob was living in Roanoke Virginia, he met up with this fantastic caricature artist named Kyle Edgell, who draws caricatures as a full time business. For the next two years, Bob periodically drew with her at various corporate events, parties, etc. This new resurgence in the caricature medium re stoked his love for it, and subsequently his prowess as a caricature artist rose to a higher level. color illustration by bob langston of an athleteKyle helped Bob land many gigs at places such as The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia, The Homestead in Hot Springs, Keswick Manor in Charlottesville and many hotel events (Hilton, Holiday Inn, etc). He also drew caricatures 2 nights a week at a local restaurant called Macado’s with his “walkabout easel”, which he carried around his neck with a strap as he strolled around from table to table and drew the people as they enjoyed their meals. Since he moved back to Virginia Beach in October 2005, he has drawn at The Boardwalk art show, The Neptune Festival, after prom parties, private parties and various other special events (grand openings for stores, anniversary sales, etc).

Bob Langston plans on continuing to work in this fun and entertaining art form.
