"Wild Bill" Taylor - Caricature Artist - Westbrook, CT
Sixty-four-year-old "Wild Bill" Taylor has been playing the GHO the past nine years, but he isn't much of a golfer. "I used to play on a golf course so small you couldn't yell 'fore,' " says Taylor. "You had to yell 3 1/2!" Taylor of Westbrook, draws caricatures during the golf tournament.
A former professional boxer who wanted to be a doctor, but who became a high school chemistry teacher instead, Taylor is in his element sketching faces and delivering one-liners at a cafe near the TPC at River Highlands clubhouse. He remembers one of his tougher fights. Between rounds, his cornerman says: "the guy hasn't touched you out there." "Then watch the referee," Taylor tells him, "because somebody out there is kicking the ... out of me."
