Marion van de Wiel - Caricature Artist - The Netherlands
Marion van de Wiel was born on November 15, 1963 in Goirle, North Brabant, The Netherlands. After an interval of studying history at the University in Nijmegen she found out that art school was more her kind of thing, so she decided to do a fashion design course at the College of Fine Arts in Arnhem, where she graduated with a collection of children‘s clothes in 1991.
During her studies she came in touch with the art of caricatures, and found out that this was her true vocation. She now makes caricatures, greeting cards, and cartoons etc. She has been working for 16 years in this vocation, throughout the whole of the Netherlands and has even crossed many cultural and national borders with her art.
A top act that adapts itself easily to all sorts of occasions, Marion is an experienced and flexible worker who thinks along with you in realizing your ideas and wishes. Black and white, full color, alone or with more persons on one drawing, with or without a small body, basically everything is possible. Her average speed is 5 to 7 minutes per caricature. It is therefore possible to draw a large number of people. Nevertheless, she is not a photo machine: which means that if you wish her to draw a specific number of people, you will need to us know when you book your event.
Marion works with a mobile easel. The advantage of such an easel is that she can move around among the people. In that way, she creates an informal and relaxed atmosphere. She can even dress up in different outfits at no extra cost: French, Old Dutch or Country and Western. However, please keep in mind that would need to be worked out in advance. She puts the finished drawings in plastic tubes for each person to take along with them.
Marion can also be hired as a digital artist. The caricatures are made on a pressure-sensitive drawing screen and can be viewed by the onlookers on a 17cm laptop. It is also possible to attach a beamer or a plasma screen onto the computer.
