Andrew Wilkie - Caricature Artist - New Orleans, LA
Leaving behind a box factory in Minnesota, in 1999 Andrew Wilkie learned the mysterious art of caricature from Tom Richmond at ValleyFair, in Shakopee, MN. In 2001, after 8 years in Minneapolis, he escaped the frozen north and relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee. For two and half years, he was the only street artist in Chattanooga. His desire to flee the arctic north continued and Andrew headed south to Orlando, FL where he worked with the Fasens at Universal Studios. With the help of the Fasen expansion effort, he moved to New Orleans to help fellow artist Jeremy Townsend at the Riverwalk Mall, and later he began working at Six Flags over New Orleans.
His summers are now spent traveling to the rest of the country, working with other artists on collaborative projects. Living in New Orleans has brought out costumes and characters and a side that Andrew feels he was obviously suppressing. If there is a purpose for everything, than Andrew’s is definitely to make people smile. He enjoys talking to strangers and strives to achieve an experience that will be remembered for a lifetime. Andrew is truly excited to draw for you and your guests at your next event.
