Smiles! That is what you get when Bonnie is working her creative magic. Bonnie’s talents are abundant and her outgoing attitude and enthusiasm is what keeps children and adults alike lined up in anticipation. Whether it is twisting balloons into a crazy hat or a more elaborate bicycle or painting a spring daisy, to a theatrical mask, people can’t get enough. In 1991, Bonnie Steadman was a counselor at a camp in Maine established for families of children with life-threatening diseases. She was drawn to the clowns who came to entertain the children with face painting and balloon twisting and was compelled by the children’s response to these clowns and realized their was no greater reward in life than to see a child smile. Soon after, Sunshine the Clown was born, a fitting name because it is so reflective of her sunny personality. As Sunshine, Bonnie honed her twisting and face-painting skills at conventions and seminars throughout the US. It’s been said that on a returning flight from a face painting convention, Bonnie practiced her latest accomplishments on the stewardess’ and her fellow passengers, to their overwhelming delight. Although Sunshine frequently works out of costume, Sunshine’s charm radiates through Bonnie as she twists balloon hats, flowers, animals and characters and paints cheek art or full face designs to transform little girls into enchanted princesses and boys into their favorite superheroes. Adults too, thrill to the escape into the glittering world of fantasy she creates. Bonnie enjoys a successful balloon decorating business specializing in breathtaking décor for special events. As a Certified Balloon Artist, she adds perfect magical touches to weddings, bar and bat mitzvoth, corporate events and happy occasions of every kind, creating balloon arches, sculptures and centerpieces to delight her clients. So, in the end, it’s really just like the beginning: what Bonnie will undoubtedly leave you with is a smile. |
