Noa Chaikin was born in Jerusalem, Israel. She has been exposed to henna since her childhood, whether applying it on her head for fun or being in henna ceremonies where the only traditions left was to dip hand and feet with a bowl full of paste or dipping only the finger tips with in a Kurdish Jewish family where she learned how to prepare some great cuisines as well. She also spent a good deal of time with the Yemenite family, where the henna paste was put in the center of the brides hand... When she asked why they do it, she got a few answers: 1- Good luck-Helps keeps evil away. 2- Fertility.
3- Good fortune. 4-Happiness and strength.
Noa came to the US in 1983 and became a citizen in 1989. She has been a flower designer, a mannequin make-up artist, a dental lab technician, an artist, and an illustrator. She moved to Vermont from New Jersey in 1992. In 1999 she was exposed to the art of Mehndi and fell in love with it immediately. And in that same year she became the henna artist for the Smuggler's Notch Resort. She has many, many, very happy repeat customers who tell her every year that they can't wait to come to Vermont in the summers because they love to have her henna designs on them.
Since Noa is an illustrator, she can do almost any design requested, whether it is in the book of her own designs, other artist's books, or a clients own special request. She has done many festivals, graduation nights, baby showers, Bat/Bar Mitzvahs, and birthday parties.

Serves: Underhill, VT and 30 minutes into the surrounding area including: Jericho, Essex, Williston, Richmond, Burlington, Shelburne, Colchester, Milton, Georgia, St. Albans, South Hero, Fairfax, Westford, Cambridge, Jeffersonville, Johnson, Morrisville, and High Gate, VT areas. Will Travel!
Rates: $150/hr with a 2 hour minimum.
Speeds:
- 20-30 simple designs per hour each one takes less than 5 minutes.
- for elaborate designs it is 10-15 minutes per design
- even more elaborate designs can take from 45 minutes to one hour to complete
Wrapping the design, providing heat, some moisture, and leave it on for 8 hours, will assure longevity and darkness. This is especially true in the colder or dryer climates even in the summers.
